Sara Misner is a graduate of the Montana State University Film Program. A rural Minnesotan, she came west to study film and ended up falling in love with theatre. All through college, Sara was heavily involved with the Black Box Theatre; a small performing arts theatre attached to the film and photo building on campus. It was there that she began working with Montana Shakespeare in the Parks (MSIP). She was able to jump in and work with them in all areas of production. This included knowing her way around the scene shop and operating the soundboard for the MSIP winter shows. While in school she also worked for Montana PBS as the Sound Engineer for the 2020 season of Montana Ag Live and Replay Operator for the 2021 season of MSU Bobcat Basketball. Her work in film school focused mostly around production as First Assistant Director. This skill set transferred easily into the role of Stage Manager for the theatre. She was able to stage manage several MSU productions while in college. Once she graduated in Dec. 2020 she started stage managing for MSIP and Nervous Theatre. Most recently in 2022 she stage managed the Montana Shakes! tour and was the Assistant Stage Manager for MSIP’s winter and summer tours. Her first time working with Intermountain Opera was to assistant stage manage The Marriage of Figaro in the spring of 2022.
